4-21-18 Hicks's 50th Anniversary party:
The Farmers' Almanac was wrong! Carol was upset a couple months ago because the almanac said it was going to rain today. But there was a pretty good sized indoor space, so that shouldn't have been a worry. Angie, Josh, Layla, Ben, Sandy, Ken and I arrived early to set up the seating and decorate. I thought Angie did a great job---simple, but pretty. And who doesn't like almond kisses?!
Carol seemed to be happy. Although they fought Layla for attention. The family was excited to get to meet the newest Hicks, too.
Angie had Stefanina's (her Uncle's Restaurant) cater the event. It was really good---salad, rolls, broccoli cavatelli, and mostaccioli. And this was only half of it!
more ogling over Layla.
There were 5 or 6 tables outside, too, so people mingled out there also. With temps about 65 it turned out to be a beautiful day.
Even Layla enjoyed the party. Not a single whimper from her all day.
Time to cut the cake.
time for some group photos. First one---the grand kids.
Uncle Ben and Layla
The extended Darrel Hicks family
the happy couple
Carols side (I think)
The Josh Hicks family---they're all 3 so photogenic.
Angie and Dawn comparing notes about adoption.
The party did end up migrating to the outside. There was a big fire pit, too, but no one started a fire.

Final farewells.
They got to see a lot of family they hadn't seen in years. It was a really nice event. Angie did a super job putting it all together. I only hope the brothers eventually contributed some money to it. I know Angie and Josh spent over $1000 on the party---over $500 just for the venue.
