3-7-2018  Gibbs Gardens with Angie and Layla:

It's that time again----time for daffodils!!!  So I had to get back to Gibb's Gardens before my membership expired, which is tomorrow!  Angie also has a membership, so she went, too.  It was a chilly 50ish degree day, but nice and sunny.  It was Layla's first garden visit!!!  I guess she liked it, she slept through most of it.  But Angie and I spent about 3 hours and 3 miles wandering around.

11-4-17  back to Gibb's Garden with the guys:

Angie and I enjoyed our trip to Gibb's so much a couple days ago that we wanted to make---I mean let---the guys enjoy it, too.  So Sat. we headed back there.  It was another beautiful Fall day---again near 80.  More clouds today so the lighting for pictures was trickier, but it was still great.
Heading in
seemed a lot more leaves had fallen since Thurs.

11-2-17 Gibbs gardens with Angie:

For awhile Angie and I have been talking about getting back up to Gibbs to see the Fall colors.  With time running out for this year, we finally decided on going today.   I've been getting emails from the gardens about the fall festivals going on now and the wild flowers and colors in the Japanese Gardens.  So I was anxious to go.
Heading in!

9-7-2017  Gibb's Garden:

Been awhile since I've been to Gibb's Garden.  And it'll be awhile before we have the chance to take a sight seeing day trip for awhile.  So---I suggested to Ken that we go somewhere.  It was a beautiful unseasonably cool day (about 77 and low humidity).  He had no objections, so about 11:30, we hit the road.
First we headed about an hour West to Gibb's Garden.  I have a season pass there and haven't been there in the summer yet.  It's billed as the Season of Color.  So off we went----
Our journey took us along SR 20 to Cumming.  They're still working on it, but it was flowing well today.  Probably by the time they finish the road work, we will have moved.
Finally made it to the Gardens.  It's beautiful drive into the grounds.
There certainly was a lot of color there.   Maybe not many flowers, but sure are a lot of colorful leaves.

5-2-17 off to granddog and grandcat sit in Knoxville by way of Gibbs Garden:

The time finally came when we were heading to Knoxville to watch Jesse and Clawdine while their parents took a trip to Nashville to see a couple of their favorite bands---Coheed and Cambria and Pathfinder (or something like that). Then they were spending a couple more days in Nashville to check out the city.  So we jumped in the car about noon and took off.  Since we had all day to get there, I suggested we take a long way around and stop at Gibbs Gardens too.  I have a membership there---time to get some use out of it!
This guy greats us every time we head down SR20.
I love driving through the country and seeing all the new growth.

3-8-17  Gibbs Garden!

20,000,000 daffodils!!!!  That's what they advertise.  So I HAD to go see for myself!  I LOVE daffodils!  I think subconsciously I started liking them because they're the first color we'd see after the dreadfully long dull St. Louis winters.
I had read about a garden north of SR20 between Buford and I-75, so I decided to look it up when we were on our way back from Knoxville a couple days ago.  That's when I saw the pictures of the daffodils and the claim that they have the most daffodils of anywhere in the USA.  Unfortunately, they're closed on Mondays, so we couldn't stop then (about a 20 minute ride out of our way).  But I texted Angie and asked her if she wanted to go with me later in the week.  She said yes, so we decided on today.   I wasn't sure if they would have many daffodils still blooming since it's been really warm this winter and they bloomed early, but my fears were unwarranted.  (Good thing we went when we did!  The whole next week we were hit with the coldest air of the winter with temps down in the 20 a few days!)
Our ride would have been a bit shorter if they hadn't been painting lines on the new part of SR20.  We were stuck at the light for 3 rotations before they let us go.
The ride from Buford was about an hour, but it's through countryside, so it is pretty.
