6-6-18 Massee Gardens:

Time to hit up Lane Farms for a meal again.  We always see the signs for Massee Gardens on our way to the farm, so we decided to go check them out.  On our way we drove through Ft. Valley---another little town with a cute little town center.
We also passed a bunch of pecan trees.

About 15 minutes from Lane's we were heading into the gardens

The office buildings/gift shop/ticket office.
I paid the $4 entrance fee, then thought to ask if they were a reciprocal garden with MOBOT.  To my surprise, they are!  So she refunded the $4 back to me and I continued on my way into the gardens.
Heading in
a couple flowers along the way
It's predominantly a camellia garden, but they bloom from Sept. - March.  None blooming now---perhaps that's why the garden was empty of visitors.
But it was a nice walk.  It even has a tiny Japanese Garden.
or should I say mosquito garden!?
Back on the route around the gardens.
The walkway was nice and big.
Some insect eating plants near the wetlands.
interesting "flower" on the insect eating plants?
some more nearby flowers.
I was hoping the wetlands would have birds in it, but it just seemed to have lilies in it.
so I continued on around the wetlands.
one of the few flowering plants this time of year.
there were even some paths mowed into the grass.
and a few lone flowers here and there.

the parasitic flowering vines---at least they are pretty.
another tropical flowering plant.
even a palm tree or 2
a late camellia?
a little pavillion in the middle of nowhere.

with a little pond full of koi.
and lilies
Lantana?
an overgrown day lilly garden.

Hydrangeas were blooming, too.

some were just starting to bloom.
after about an hour wandering around, I headed back to the car.  It was a pretty day for riding around.  Even the clouds were showing off.
Nice to have found another garden to go to.  Not quite as nice as MOBOT or Atlanta's gardens, but it's an easy walk.  I'm looking forward to seeing it when all the camellias are in bloom.
