7-1-16  off to the airport (to drop the kids off):

Would have been nice if it was for us, but I'm glad the "kids" got to go on their annual July 4th holiday with a bunch of Angie's college buddies.  They've been taking turns going to each other's towns for several years now.  Last year it was Washington DC (I think).  One year it was up into Maine.  Another time everyone came to their place in South Florida.  Don't remember where else they went, but it usually meant a trip for me to come out and dog sit.  Now that we live near them, one of us just stays at their house.  Ken seems to like doing that, so I'd drive over in the morning and spend the day.  We'd go to dinner and I'd walk the dogs in the evening.  Then sometime after dark I'd head back to our apartment.  He has his laptop with him, so is able to sit around all day and not just have tv to watch.  My computer is a desk top and I'm only able to watch tv for about 2 hours at a time---then it puts me to sleep.
So today we took them to the airport.  If you've ever driven around Atlanta you know it's chaos!  Try driving around Atlanta on a holiday weekend Friday during rush hour!  Angie tracked the traffic and directed us to back roads for most of the way there.  I-285 was stop and go so we tried to avoid it.  Still took about 1.5 hours to get to the airport.  Then the fun really started.   We ended up on 75 going into the city.  Then turned around to try and get on 285.  Ended up on 285 going up the West side of Atlanta---we live on the East side.  Tried to turn around again.  Ended up back on 85/75 heading into the city----good thing we have a Garmin and Smart Phone!  Finally took 20 over to 285 and sat in that traffic back up to 85 and on up to Suwanee.  Only took about 2.5 hours to get home---4 hours to round trip it to the airport!  Time to bring the Marta up here to the Mall of Georgia!!!
But they made it to the airport in time and breezed through the security.  Soon they were on their way to a fun week in Kansas City and Nebraska.
