5-2-18 House contract and back to Buford:
Today we decided to take a ride out to Lane's Farm, again. This time for breakfast. Angie and Layla came with us. It's such a pretty ride there!
And only about 15 minutes from Angie's house. Our bill for all 3 of us (Layla just got a bottle of formula) was only $13.50! So glad we found this place already!
After breakfast, we rode around the area near the Farm. I was shocked when we pulled up the sale info on this house---only $299,000!!!!
By the time we got back to Angie's place, our contract was ready to be picked up from the lawyer's office. So Ken and I went into downtown Perry and picked it up. This is the lawyer's office.
We keep passing a "thrift" store on our way into downtown. So I had Ken stop at it and I went in to check it out. Afterall, I hadn't started packing yet and didn't realize how much junk we're accumulated in the 2 years we've been in Buford! Anyway---there was some interesting things, like these chairs.
and this headboard
I even found this coffee table interesting.
Really liked this daybed. If I was looking for one I might have gotten it.
From there we headed to the construction office of Hayes Custom Homes to give Jonathon the offer. He actually went through it while we were there and we negotiated a few points. We had cut the price by 3% and put in the offer that he pays the closing costs. He was looking for a little more money to "increase the value/foot for comps in the area". So I suggested he throw in his livingroom set and Ken offered to split the 3% with him. He needed to think about that, so we went back to Angie's for awhile.
Layla's personality is really blooming now. She's so fun to be around---most of the time.
She's at the stage where everything goes in the mouth. Right now that's mainly her hands, our hands, her blanket, and her pacifiers.
Jonathon called a couple hours later and said he was ready to sign the papers. So we went back and wrote in and initialed the changes. He even had a notary there, so we were able to get that done, too.
Had to drive back by our new neighborhood. Lots of new construction going on right now, but I think that should be fun watching the neighborhood take shape.
And there it is! Even the new construction next door is coming right along. Just a couple days ago they were pouring the foundation. Now they had the exterior walls up! Kind of wish I'd asked the owner to put a rail up around the front porch.
With that done, it was time to go out and celebrate. While we were signing papers with the owner, Josh had gotten back from Cincinnati, so they were anxious to go to dinner, too. We decided to try another new place for all of us---The Swanson House. I even had the sparkling peach wine---which I liked a LOT!
This will definitely be another of our regular restaurants! Food, service, and ambience were excellent! So good I forgot to take a picture of my dinner---fried chicken, collard greens, and salad. They even have a unique champagne balsamic dressing which is excellent.
Layla really seems to enjoy being out and about. For the most part, she seems to enjoy everything.
Part of the dining room of the Swanson House.
From there, Ken and I headed back to Buford. In less then a week we're picking up a U-Haul truck and moving our stuff down---not to our new house, but to Angie and Josh's. Our closing date is set for June 30th, or sooner---depending on how inspections and such go.
It was a nice ride back. Got to see a pretty sunset.
Missed Atlanta's rush hour"s" traffic.
Won't miss this mess of highways!
Fortunately we didn't have the back up going North like they had going South---even at close to 10 pm!
Time to get busy purging and packing.
