10-29-16  Butterfly House:

One of our benefits of being Missouri Botanical Garden members is that we get into the Butterfly House in Faust park in West County for free.  So I try to get there at least once a year when I have the MOBOT membership.  So this was the time I went this year.  Ken even came along.  It was the first time he's been there.
Faust park is an interesting little park with a recreated old village and this building with a carousel in it.  We parked in the parking lot between the carousel and the Butterfly House.

Looking back at the entrance to the Butterfly House.
The building houses a gift shop, a small theatre where they had glow in the dark scorpions this time, and they also have displays of different bugs---as well as the big greenhouse area where the butterflies are.  This was one of the bugs on display.  Love the happy face design on it's back.
on to the greenhouse and the butterflies.
Love all the flowers growing in there, too.
Love it when the critters pose for me.
 more flowers.
a wide angle view of part of the walkway.
 more walkway.
 another flower.
 another butterfly

This one looked a bit tattered.

This was a very large moth.
 cute restroom sign
they even have an outdoor butterfly garden.

Didn't find much in that outdoor garden, but it is getting late in the year.  So we headed back in to get to the exit.
To the side of the building outside is another garden.

Even saw a couple butterflies out there.
 and a catepillar
There were a couple Monarchs flying around, too.

 and some type of swallowtail?
Being so close to Halloween, it also had Halloween decor around.
It was a nice way to spend a couple hours.
