10-1-17  a day in Knoxville:

No big plans for today.  Started it off by going out for breakfast.   After a great breakfast, we headed up to a park on top of a mountain overlooking Knoxville and the mountains beyond.
Close up of the Sunsphere in downtown Knoxville from the top of the mountain (with my 150-600mm zoom lens).

zoomed in to the rolling hills by the city.
 back to the city.
back to taking pictures of the mountains.

Easy to see why they're called the Blue Ridge Mountains.
 one last view.
Then we headed down into the city to celebrate Oktoberfest.
We had a beer and pretzels
then Tim and Faith hiked the Alpines.
I got a kick out of the table centerpieces.
A stop at Target was in order.  So was posing while shopping.
Headed to Lakefront Bar and Grill for dinner.  Hoped to sit out on the patio, but it had a long wait.  So we sat indoors.  Dinner was great as always.
Then I made them take me to the little park nearby for sunset.
wasn't sure if the clouds would be too heavy, but it was pretty.
Looked like the fishermen on the pier were doing pretty good.
 Almost sunset.

reflection of the sunset in the water.

clouds are starting to lighten up

it was turning into a great sunset.

 definitely not a dud!
more sunset reflections in the lake
While at Target, I picked up a set of Mexican Train Dominoes.   We play this with Angie and Josh quite often and find it a great way to visit.  Didn't know Tim and Faith would want to play, but when they said they did, I was happy to buy the game.  I think we all had a good time---even though I did get clobbered!
It was a short stay with Tim and FAith.  But they had a concert to go to on Friday night and back to work on Monday.  But it was nice seeing them for even that short amount of time.  Plus they got to show off their new car.  I guess we started something when we bought the Edge.
