Today is the day Angie and Josh pick up whom could become their daughter! They picked up their new baby girl at noon from Bethany adoption agency. Been a long time coming! Now they have to wait out the revocation period, which will last until the 5pm, Dec. 26, before they can start the adoption proceedings (which can take another 6 months).

Baby Layla ready to go home.
This "hospital drop" was a little different from most of them. Layla was actually born on Nov. 29, 2017 and was about 5 1/2 weeks early. She was about 5lbs 4 oz and spent the first few days in the Nicu for jaundice and sepsis. When she was released, her mother took her home, but soon realized she couldn't take care of her, go to school, and work. She was a young mother (19 years old) and this was her 1st baby. She had no family support and wanted a "better life for her baby". She said when she read Angie and Josh's profile book, she knew they were the ones to raise Layla. She had given Layla the name Layla Adrienna, but was open to Angie and Josh changing her name. They elected to keep the name Layla and change her middle name to Noelle---for their little Christmas miracle.
All the other babies they submitted their profile books for consideration were expected to be born in a month or 2, or the mother had the baby and immediately put it up for adoption. Most of them had 4-7 kids already and just didn't want another one---but, they wanted to name the child and many of them wanted an open adoption where they could see the child. I was happy that Layla's birth mother was more concerned about what Angie and Josh wanted and is happy with a semi open adoption ( pictures and a sheet of statistics filled out every month or so and sent to the office for the birth mother to pick up).
By the time Angie and Josh got Layla, she was already about 3 weeks old and doing well. Still a newborn, but on the right track.
